DDA Signs

Practicality, Continuity And Compliance Braille Signage

We understand that your signage solution must strike a perfect balance between practicality, brand continuity and compliance with the 2004 Disability Discrimination Act.

These signs are vital to the navigation of environments such as health care sectors, public sectors, schools, universities and hotels and so the strict guidelines around the size of text and contrasting colours must be observed.

Fully DDA compliant beautifully designed and able to represent your brand values perfectly, Signage Systems make Braille and tactile signs that look great and work. Furthermore, we’re experts on wayfinding solutions and can work with you to determine an ideal location plan for your particular environment.

What are DDA signs?

DDA signs are signs designed to support accessibility and help people navigate buildings more easily. They often include clear lettering, strong contrast, tactile elements, braille, pictograms and carefully considered positioning.

What does DDA stand for in signage?

DDA stands for the Disability Discrimination Act. Although the Equality Act 2010 has largely replaced the DDA in UK law, the term “DDA signs” is still commonly used to describe accessible and inclusive signage.

Do DDA signs need braille?

Not every accessible sign needs braille, but braille can be very useful for room identification, toilet signage, lift areas and key navigation points. The right solution depends on the building, the users and the type of information being displayed.

Can DDA signs be branded?

Yes. DDA signs can be designed to work with your brand colours, materials and interior style, while still keeping accessibility at the centre of the design. It is important, though, that brand styling does not reduce contrast, legibility or clarity.

Can you help plan accessible signage for a building?

Yes. We can help assess where signs are needed, how they should be positioned and what information should be included. This is particularly useful for larger sites, multi-floor buildings, public spaces and environments with complex wayfinding requirements.

These long-term partnerships are built on reliability, consistency and premium workmanship.
